You are invited to come on a 7 day spiritual odyssey to the Wallowa mountains in North Eastern Oregon, the spiritual homeland of the Nez Perce tribe and Chief Joseph.

We camp in a beautiful spot nestled in the lake basin, 7 miles in from the trailhead, at 7600’ elevation. We hike through the scenic valley of the East Lostine River, starting at 6000’ and reach the lake basin of Mirror and Moccasin Lakes. We will see clear skies and true fresh air, with mountain streams gurgling past our camp, beautiful wild flowers and spectacular granite mountains, similar to the Rockies, which are a profound contrast to our beloved volcanic peaks here in the Cascades.

This area has incredible scenery: granite mountains and valleys, peaks to 9500’, sky blue lakes, lush green meadows with wildflowers, chipmunks, ground squirrels and many bird species. And peace, quiet and solitude! The silence is awesome!

I will lead daily ceremonies to the 7 directions, and other native American meditations, and we will day hike to other lakes in the area. Or you are free to lie about in camp all day, reading, sleeping, meditating or just being!

We will pack for backpacking; however, I have hired an outfitter to carry all our stuff!!! So we will hike in with our almost empty packs, carrying only rain gear, water and our lunch for the day! Gucci camping! You must be in good aerobic shape, and be able to hike in 7 miles at altitude.

The cost is $850, which includes breakfast and dinner, outfitter’s fees, workshop/meditation instruction, and guidance on what to bring, how to pack, etc, plus transportation round trip from Eugene to trailhead in my vehicle.

You are responsible for your lunches, snacks, extra drinks, your utensils, plate, cup, sleeping bag, small two person tent with rain fly, rain gear, a day pack and backpack, and your clothes plus any other personal items you might wish to bring. If you haven’t got the gear, much of it can be rented from REI or elsewhere. You will also be responsible for one night of motel stay on the 11th and the 16th and your lunches and dinners on those days. It is a long day’s drive from Eugene to Enterprise, and we will stay the night and then go to the trailhead the next morning. Likewise, we will pack out on the 16th, spend the night in Enterprise and drive back to Eugene on the 17th.

Only groups of a maximum of six people can camp in the lake area, so if you are interested, please send your deposit of $350 to me asap to reserve your space. Let me know if you want to join us, and I’ll send you a release.
